Sue Chalifoux Zephir is a lifelong resident of Leominster, mother of three, grandmother of two, married to local business owner Ed Zephir, Leominster City Councilor at-Large, Executive Director of Ginny’s Helping Hand a nonprofit food pantry, Leominster Education Foundation board member, trustee of the Leominster Public Library, and the Democratic candidate for State Senator in the Worcester & Middlesex District. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Assumption College and a MBA from Simmons College.
Sue’s involvement in the broader community led her to serve on the Board of Directors for Our Father’s House from 2002 to 2014 in Fitchburg, MA as a board member and Vice President.
For eight years Sue has served as a member of the Leominster City Council. She was first elected as the Ward 4 City Councilor and later as a Councilor at-Large in 2009. She continues to serve as a City Councilor at-Large. In her tenure, she has been elected Council President and served as the Finance Committee Chair. During her time on the City Council, Sue has worked on a wide range of issues facing towns and cities within the region – from taking care of our seniors and veterans, to improving local economies, maintaining and protecting our green spaces and neighborhoods, and funding public education. Sue is ready to build on the work started by Senator Jen Flanagan, and she has the experience to navigate Beacon Hill to bring resources back to our communities and strengthen North Central Massachusetts.
