Dan Cullinane is seeking re-election to the House of Representatives in the 12th Suffolk District, which includes the towns of Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park, and Milton. Throughout Dan’s life he has pursued community service. Growing up and in high school, Dan worked numerous jobs and even joined the Cedar Grove Civic Association. After graduating high school, Dan went on to Providence College, where he was the first in family to attend college. While attending college in Rhode Island, Dan remained committed to serving his home community. Each summer and winter break, Dan worked full-time in the office of Boston City Councilor Maureen Feeney. Senior year, Dan began as an intern, and then by second-semester, he was hired full-time in the office of State Representative for now Mayor of Boston Martin J. Walsh. After college, Dan continued to serve his community in a variety of ways. He served as a Director of Constituent Services for State Representative, now Mayor, Marty Walsh. He then returned to Boston City Hall to serve as Communications Director to Boston City Councilor Maureen Feeney. Dan served as a Fair Labor Investigator in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, where he held employers and contractors accountable for not paying their workers wages they had earned, on private and on taxpayer funded construction projects.
Prior to his election as State Representative, Dan served as State Representative Linda Dorcena Forry’s campaign field director and advisor in her successful campaign for Massachusetts State Senate. It was a privilege for Dan to be part of this historic campaign helping to elect the first Haitian-American State Senator in Massachusetts and the first woman ever to represent the First Suffolk Senate District. In 2013, when Senator Forry was sworn in to the Massachusetts State Senate leaving her House seat vacant, Dan decided to run for the open seat in the special election for State Representative of the 12th Suffolk District. And together, with the hard work and help of so many, Dan won the seat.
If re-elected, Dan pledges to continue to work hard for the residents of 12 Suffolk and to be a tireless and transparent advocate in the State House and a constant and responsive presence in the community.
