Becca Rausch – Mass Alliance

Becca Rausch

Becca Rausch is the Massachusetts State Senator representing the Norfolk, Bristol & Middlesex District. She is the third woman, the second Democrat, and the first Jewish person to hold her seat. Senator Rausch was elected in November 2018 and sworn into office on January 2, 2019.

Rausch is the Chairperson for the Joint Committee on Municipalities, Vice Chair for the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs, and a member of the Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities, Joint Committee on Public Health, Joint Committee on Public Service, Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight, and the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs. In the first few weeks of her tenure, Senator Rausch was appointed by Senate President Karen Spilka to serve on the Senate’s Temporary Committee on Rules, an honor rarely earned by first-year legislators.

Reflecting her commitment to intersectional social justice, fairness, and equality for all, Senator Rausch’s legislative priorities include reproductive health and justice, universal health care, public health improvements, combating climate change, voting rights, protecting against discrimination, supporting families, information accessibility and data privacy, transparency, and good government.

Prior Rausch’s election to the Senate, she served as an elected Needham Town Meeting Member and an award-winning Secretariat-level attorney in both the Patrick and Baker administrations. Rausch is a former law professor and scholar, union steward, and private sector attorney. She is also a graduate of the Emerge Massachusetts flagship program. Senator Rausch lives in Needham with her spouse, their two young children, and their floppy, loving Goldendoodle.
