17th Worcester
Mass Alliance is proud to have endorsed Doug Belanger in his run for the Massachusetts House of Representatives in the 17th district of Worcester. Doug and a friend made the decision to invest in their own local convenience store. In short order, the business became successful and Doug opened additional locations hiring local people to work in each location. Finally, Doug took the opportunity to sell his stores and take a position managing a large retail grocery chain as a more secure means to support his family. Doug rose to become associated with a local labor union as an organizer. He’s increased his role over the years and today serves as Business Agent for Local 1445. Doug has been active in local governance and currently serves as a Member of the Leicester Board of Selectman. Year endorsed: 2014
